Spectacle, October 2011
Myself and
five other very talented individuals were invited to take part in an exhibition at this year's
Supersonic festival. The theme of this year's exhibition was
'Spectacle'.
First issue of The Shooting Star Press: A fanzine about professional wrestling, July 2011
Self-published fanzine featuring articles and illustrations concerning the current state of pro-wrestling, as well as celebrating past matches and competitors. Issue #1 comes with a free "Macho Man" Randy Savage poster!
I also shifted a few copies of this at the
Birmingham Zine Festvial last weekend, so a huge thank you again to everyone who purchased one! And to those who didn't and would like to, please
drop us a line. (I swear one day I'll put a more structured and effective online zine-selling system into place!)
Issue #2 is already in the works, and I fully intend to make even more subsequent issues of
The Shooting Star Press. I would like to welcome contributions from any other fans of pro-wrestling that may wish to comment on the sport. So if you are an artist/writer/whatever and would like to draw/write/whatever something pertaining to pro-wrestling for a future issue, then please do
get in touch! Thanks!
A tribute to the pioneers of space travel and their astronomical accomplishments,
June 2011
This particular title proved pretty popular at the
Birmingham Zine Festival Zine Fair on Saturday, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who stopped by my stall to pick one up! I have some more copies left for sale, so if you would like one please
let us know.
Projects completed during an internship with the good folks over at Capsule,
June - October 2010
I was responsible for designing issue #5 of the Capsule fanzine, a regular publication which serves to promote future Capsule shows as well as the world-famous annual experimental music and arts event
Supersonic Festival. You can read this issue as well as previous issues of the fanzine online
here. I also assisted
Ian Richards of Heavy Object in designing the Supersonic Festival 2010 brochure, a free publication distributed to audiences and artists at the festival itself.
There is more about the work that went into the brochure, along with some of the other projects I was involved in and my own personal highlights of the festival in
this entry I wrote for the Capsule blog.
Selection of self-published zines and comics, 2008 - 2010
If you would like to read these publications online, you can do so by heading over to my
Issuu library. Alternatively, I have printed versions of all of these zines available for sale (or trade - I’m not averse to a bit o’ zine-swapping) so if you would like to own any of them in their physical manifestation then please
drop me a line.
From Genesis To Kevin Bacon: The sixty-six degrees of separation (Volume One), 2009
From Genesis To Kevin Bacon: The sixty-six degrees of separation (Volume Two), 2010
Two animated slideshows exploring the relationship between the niche movement of 1970s British progressive rock and some more mainstream elements of popular culture. Beginning with the prog rock band Genesis, the films undertake two separate journeys through a cross-section of contemporary popular culture, involving a variety of musicians, actors, celebrities and Kevin Bacon in the process. The films reveal how these individuals are (slightly dubiously, sometimes extremely so) linked to each other before ultimately working their way back to Genesis again. Both films can be played on a loop ensuring that the whole process becomes very long and convoluted, echoing the nature of many progressive rock songs.
